Cube3 stage ‘The Last Chair’ PR stunt . . .

Manchester was alive with excitement and confusion on Friday afternoon as ‘The Last Chair’ took to the streets of the city centre.

The Last Chair

Surrounded by hundreds of intrigued passersby, event sponsors Cube3 set the scene for a thought provoking PR stunt, starring – ‘The Last Chair’.

A pivotal part of this year’s 24:7 theatre festival, Ian Townsend’s ‘The Last Chair’ is a hilarious sit down comedy about not standing up; a theme Cube3 incorporated into Friday’s PR stunt.

The 24:7 theatre festival honours the development of acting and writing talent in Manchester; and this year is no exception. Ian Townsend’s ‘The Last Chair’ is said to be the highlight of this year’s festival, with its absurd bursts of hilarious comedy and underlining pull to social issues.

Supported by two members of the play’s cast, Cube situated the chair underneath the Manchester Wheel outside the Triangle assisted only with theatre cordons. Cube’s vision for a city centre buzz was recognised by the overwhelming interest in the presence of a ‘random’ chair.

Passersby queued in their dozens at the opportunity to be photographed with the main ‘star’ of the play. Not only did the stunt raise awareness of the production but it highlighted the diverse and accepting nature of the people of Manchester – something that is always nice to see.

Writer and Director of the ‘Last Chair’, Ian Townsend commented:

“We are overwhelmed by the promotional support given by Cube3; they have definitely gone above and beyond our expectations.
“The PR stunt in Manchester was a great idea and I understand the response from the public was fantastic. It is refreshing to see an agency giving their time and ideas so willingly, especially in these tough economic times. We are extremely grateful for their support and sponsorship and would defiantly recommend their integrated services.”
